The Moon is always a good starting target for

fast shutter speeds. |

Moon Halo
Canon 500D prime focus on C9.25. 1/25 sec ISO100.
From Punggai.

This optical phenomenon is due to ice crystals in
the clouds. If you zoom in, you can actually see the colours of the
rainbow in the halo! |

Aliens
You don't need to go to the movies to see Aliens.
They're right outside - in rain-water that's been standing for a while.
No larger than a millimetre in length. It's name - harpacticoid copepod!
